Ivory & Lace Studios is a boudoir photography studio in Kingman, Arizona, at 721 E. Beale St., and a session here takes about two to three hours with your hair and makeup done at the studio, a client closet to pull from, and posing coached start to finish so you never have to know what to do with your hands.
Sessions run Monday through Friday with start times at 10:00, 1:00 and 4:00, and most women book a couple of months ahead because that gives the pre session payment plan time to run.
I'm Alisha, I own the studio and I'm the one behind the camera, and the women who come in are from Kingman, Golden Valley, Bullhead City and Lake Havasu, and almost none of them have done anything like this before.
We are the little blue house with the white porch on Beale Street in downtown Kingman, and your confirmation email has the arrival time and the parking note in it so you're not circling the block looking for us.
You don't need to bring a glam team or a photographer's idea of a wardrobe, because the hair and makeup happens here and the client closet is here.
We keep more than ten sets up at any given time, so you move from room to room through your session instead of standing in the same spot in front of one backdrop for an hour, and the sets get changed and updated through the year, which is why the women who come back don't end up with the same session twice.
No, and this is the part women worry about the most and it is the part that matters the least, because posing you is literally my job.
I tell you where to put your hands, where to look, when to breathe and when to laugh, and you don't have to remember a single thing on your own or practice in a mirror the night before.
By the second set most women forget I'm in the room at all, and that is usually when the images we both end up loving happen.
Bring the pieces you already feel good in, and we keep a client closet at the studio so if you get here and nothing feels right, we pull something that fits and that is the end of the problem.
A good rule is one outfit you feel safe in and one you have never had the guts to wear, because it's almost always the second one you'll be obsessed with later.
If you want the longer version before your session, read what to wear, and if you're worried about sizing or about being short or tall or anything else, say it on your consult call and we handle it before the day.
Hair and makeup is included in your session fee on a full session, and it happens here at the studio and takes about ninety minutes, so you walk in with a bare face and you don't have to source anybody yourself.
Mini and micro sessions are the exception, because those have no session fee and glam is a paid add on when we run them.
That ninety minutes is also the part that settles everybody down, because you get talked to and fussed over for an hour and a half before a camera ever comes out.
Your session is yours and nobody else's, so friends and partners don't sit in on the shoot, because the minute there's an audience in the room you start performing for her instead of settling in and forgetting about the camera.
The one exception is hair and makeup, so if walking in alone is honestly the thing keeping you from booking, bring your person for the glam chair and she heads out before we start shooting.
Plan on two to three hours in the studio, with about ninety minutes of that in the glam chair and about an hour of actual shooting, and the rest is wardrobe and breathing.
You see your images at a reveal appointment a few weeks later, where we go through everything together and you choose what you want, and your digitals come to you that day and printed products take about eight weeks.
We do not do same day reveals, because the editing is the thing that makes these look the way they do and it is not something I rush. There's more on the full run of it on the experience.
Women drive in from Bullhead City, Laughlin, Lake Havasu City and Golden Valley all the time, and it is about forty five minutes from Bullhead City and about an hour from Lake Havasu City, which is a morning of driving, not a trip.
Book a 10:00 start if you're coming from out of town so you're back home with the rest of your day, and tell us on the consult call where you're driving from so we pick a time that works around the drive.
Here's the honest part, and I'd rather say it than sell around it: the women who say they'll book when they lose twenty pounds have usually been saying it for years, and the body they were waiting to be done with is the one they'd love to have photos of now.
Nothing about this session requires you to be smaller, because the lighting, the posing and the wardrobe are all doing the work of showing you at your best, and that is true at every size I photograph.
If you genuinely have something coming up that you're working toward, book the consult anyway and we'll talk about dates, because the calendar fills months ahead and waiting to call is what costs you the date, not your body.
Pricing comes on your consult call, and that is on purpose, because what you spend depends on how many images you want, whether you want an album or digitals or both, and what payment plan you want to run before your session day.
It's a short phone call with someone on our team, and you'll hear the session fee, the collections and the payment options and then decide, and nobody is going to push you into booking on that call.
You choose your images and no images are shared unless they are purchased.
If you ever want to be in our feed we ask you, every time, and if the answer is no then the answer is no and nothing changes about your session or your gallery.
If you've read this far you're not really researching anymore, so book the consult call and let's find you a date, and if you'd rather just talk to a human first, call or text the studio at 928-263-8229.
